St. Patrick’s Day Yoga – The Unicorn Song

March 12, 20161 min read

St Patrick’s Day is the perfect day to make your yoga fun! Remember The Unicorn Song – a definite classic! Prepare to get silly and enjoy this old time favourite today on your own or let the kids play along too…

Kids of all ages will love acting out the chorus to the classic Unicorn Song by the Irish Rovers.

The majority of the poses are done during the chorus, during the verses, it works really well to free dance, then be ready to move quickly for the chorus…

St. Patrick’s Day Yoga Poses for Unicorn Song

Before you start the activity, go over the poses, as they go by really quickly in the song.

Poses to use:

Alligator Pose - Kids Yoga Poses

There were Green Alligators – you may just want to do arm motion for this one depending on how quick you can move…

Duck or Geese Yoga Pose

And long necked geese

Humpty Back Camels

Camel Pose

Bug Picking Chimp Kids Yoga Pose

And Chimpanzees…

Cats and Rats and Elephants... Cat Pose, Childs Pose or Mouse Pose and I recommend just doing the arms for elephant pose while kneeling - it gets pretty fast!

There are a couple of other poses hidden in the song that you could also add in such as;

Making a large circle with arms for the green green world
Finger dancing for rain,
Boat Pose for the arc.

You’ll find that the kids will really get into this activity and have a lot of fun. Laughing, sharing and getting those sillies out.

Have fun with this – take some pics and share in the comments below on how much it brought back memories and if the kids in your life got into this one with you too!

Print out the pdf below to get you moving, grooving and getting the sillies out.
